Frequently Asked Questions

Costs and Estimates

  • It depends. Landscaping costs in San Diego can vary quite a bit based on the size of the area, the type of work being done, and the materials involved. A simple project like planting or irrigation updates will be very different from a full landscape redesign with hardscape features, lighting, or custom structures.

Every property has its own set of conditions—soil, slope, access, drainage—which can also affect the scope and cost of the work. Because of this, there really isn’t a meaningful “average” price that applies to every project.

The best way to get an accurate idea of cost is to have us take a look at your space and talk through your goals. We offer free initial consultations and can provide guidance on options that align with your budget.

  • No.  In fact, it may be best to NOT have spent too much time trying to decide without the benefit of professional, experienced guidance that can assist you in the best direction for your circumstances.

Landscape Questions

  • No!  PLEASE KEEP WATERING!!  Why?  Because in order to remove an undesired lawn area, which in most cases includes certain common grasses (like Bermuda, Kikuyu, or nutgrass), it needs to be killed off first in a way that prevents it from re-invading the new landscape.  In order to do that the most practical method will be to use an herbicide that can only enter the plant through green, actively growing leaf tissue.  A dormant (brown) lawn cannot be treated with herbicide to kill it.  It is also much easier (and less dusty) to work with soil that has some moisture content present.
